Dr Thanasis Spyriadis has been awarded an MSc in Tourism Management and Marketing, as well as a PhD on performance evaluation of Destination Management Organisations, both from Bournemouth University. In addition, he has successfully completed a PG Certificate in Academic Practice at Manchester Metropolitan University.
He is the programme leader for the MSc International Tourism and Hospitality Management and the unit leader for a number of units (e.g. International Destination Management, Strategic Tourism Management) at postgraduate and undergraduate levels. Moreover, he is the unit leader for the unit Strategic Marketing (Global Online MBA).
In previous years, he has been teaching and/or leading several other units: Global Sustainability and Governance (PG), Strategic Management and Marketing (PG), Worldwide Destinations (UG), Event Tourism and Destinations (UG), and Tourism Policy and Development (UG) .
He has successfully supervised two PhD students to completion. One PhD, completed in October 2006, is titled: “A Quality Function Deployment (QFD) model for the implementation of a mobile Augmented Reality (AR) tourism application in the context of Urban Heritage”. The second PhD, completed in June 2018, is titled: “Investigating the impact of stakeholder collaboration on industry-wide Enterprise Risk Management: A case study of the US aerial adventure industry”.
